Your skin is your largest organ, and it’s important you take care of it.
A good skincare routine can help to keep your skin looking its best, and it can also help to prevent early signs of ageing.
If you’re not sure where to start, this blog post is for you. We’ll walk you through the steps involved in creating a skincare routine that works for you.

Step 1: Assess your skin type
The first step in creating a skincare routine is to assess your skin type. There are four main skin types: dry, oily, combination, and sensitive.
Dry skin is characterised by feeling tight and flaky.
Oily skin is characterised by an excess of oil production, which can lead to inflammation and breakouts.
Combination skin is a combination of dry and oily skin.
Sensitive skin is easily irritated by certain products or the environment easily becoming pink and flushed.
Once you know your skin type, you can start to choose products that are specifically designed for your needs.
Step 2: Choose the right products for your skin
There are a wide variety of skincare products available, so it can be tough to know where to start. Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing skincare products:
Ingredients: Make sure to read the ingredient labels carefully. Some ingredients can be irritating to certain skin types.
Texture: Choose products of a medical grade that work effectively on more detrimental concerns like improving tone and texture, pigmentation and ageing.
Price: Skincare products can range in price. Be mindful of your personal concerns and choose products that are suited to your skin. Medical grade products are derived from advanced derivatives – these are more efficient and effective products, quite often this allows you to use less of the product itself due to the higher molecular weight and the product travelling further. Bare in mind that sometimes the cheapest options are not the best.
Step 3: Create your routine
Once you’ve chosen your products, it’s time to create a routine. There is no one-size-fits-all routine, so you’ll need to experiment to find what works best for you.
A basic skincare routine might include the following steps:
Cleansing: Double cleansing your face in the morning and evening.
Moisturising: Moisturise your face morning and night to keep it hydrated and aid the skin to repair.
Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days.
Step 4: Stick to your routine
The most important step in creating a skincare routine is to be consistent. It takes time to see results, so be patient with your routine. On average allow 6 weeks for any visual changes.
If you find that you’re not sticking to your routine, try to make it as easy as possible. For example, you could keep your products in a convenient location. Remember more products are not always better, stick to key core products to start with.
