NASOLABIAL FOLDS
These are commonly referred to as smile lines and run from the nose to the corner of the mouth. They can be caused by repeated facial expression coupled with loss of elasticity of the skin. They can also become more prominent and deeper during the ageing process as the skin and supportive structures of the cheek start to descend and the mid face becomes weaker. Careful placement of dermal filler in this area can offer a more youthful appearance. For more severe lines/appearance of facial volume, it may be recommended to have the cheeks treated first.

At Butterfly Aesthetics, we assess the full facial structure to ensure the most effective and natural result. For some clients, directly treating the nasolabial folds with filler is enough to soften the area and refresh the face. In other cases, restoring volume to the cheeks first helps to lift and reduce the depth of the folds naturally. Each treatment plan is tailored to your needs, ensuring balance, subtlety and long-lasting improvement.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS IT NECESSARY TO TREAT CHEEKS AS WELL?
In some cases, yes. If the nasolabial folds are deep due to volume loss in the mid-face, treating the cheeks first can provide lift and support, reducing the need for filler directly in the fold itself.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
While individual results vary, most clients enjoy visible improvements for 9 to 18 months. This depends on the type of filler used and how your body metabolises it.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
You may experience some slight swelling or redness, which usually settles within a few days. Most clients return to normal activities straight after their appointment.
WILL THIS CHANGE MY SMILE OR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?
Not at all. The goal is to soften the lines while maintaining your natural expressions. We take a conservative approach to ensure results look smooth and natural, never frozen.
